PROFESSIONAL PROJECT « CULTURE OF CORN » OF CPM AND AROPA, FARMERS BEGIN TO COMMERCIALIZE PRODUCTION

The professional project of CPM with AROPA has begun in December 2016, financed by IFAD, focusing on improving the standard of living of farmers through the production and sale of maize produced in the regions Amoron’i Mania and Anosy. The objective is to professionalize farmers in maize sector by creating cooperatives that must be autonomous and sustainable.
 At present, these farmers sell these products, which take place through a « bundling ». 300 t of maize for the Amoron’i Mania region is already in partnership with AGRIVAL and 1400 t in the Anosy region is being negotiated with the WFP.
It should be mentioned that more than 3,500 EAFs (Family Farm Exploitation) benefit from the advantages of this 25-month project, which will end in December 2018
